August

As I'm sure you know, shortly after a wonderful trip to Nebraska for a family reunion, Sylvia was admitted to the hospital with severe mouth sores. After some initial blood tests showed abnormal white blood cell counts, a bone marrow test was done. The result was not good news. She has Myelodysplastic. As her health started to improve, she was released with orders to return in three weeks to start treatment. Though her spirits were high, her health did not continue to progress as we had hoped. Last Friday, she was admitted to Downey Hospital where she has stayed. They have been wonderful to her there and we are happy that she is getting the constant care that she needs. Cathy, Vickie, and Debi have been with her day and night. She has pictures of her family all over the wall along with the cards all of you have sent. She feels blessed to have so many people that love and care about her and privileged to have so many prayers being said on her behalf.

Gabs, great job ...typical of your timely response to a need. As a close person to the action I am overwhelmed by the dedication of Sylvia's children. Kathy has gone overboard in her discipline to stay from 8am to 10pm. We are very very thankful for her.
Hopefully UCLA today. Mom is a warrior. She has dedicated her life to Jesus and her family. And of course has in particular set her life and desires aside for Christie. I have begged for a certain amount of years for her from God. Greece, London, Alaska with "the girls" will be our joy. Built into the DNA of all of her children is a will to fight and work. Each offspring go "to the wall" in all they do. It is amazing to watch how all their life endeavors, from corporate to the home activities pale when a compared to what really counts. Mom has invested in the things that count in life....OTHERS. And that is reflected in her children. Her quiver is full and her joy is her children and grand children. What a wonderful life she is having as she trusts in HIM....and we are promised as she knows....that the rest will simply play out as we trust.

My prayers are with all of you... I think the bond you all share is extrodinary, the way you come together and truly care for one another is admirable. You show what is means to be a "family".
